USCIS updated its count of FY2011 cap-subject H-1B petitions and advanced degree cap-exempt petitions receipted. As of 12/03/10, approximately 51,200 H-1B cap-subject petitions were receipted. So the remaining numbers are 65,000-51,200=13800. When we take 5800 reserved for nationals/citizens of Singapore and Chile, the actual number remaining is 8000. USCIS has receipted 18,700 H-1B petitions for aliens with advanced degrees. So the actual H-1B numbers left for advanced degree holders is 20000-18,7000=1300. Please also note that this number was calculated on December 3, 2010. The actual numbers remaining as of today was unavailable. It is advisable to start the H-1B paperwork without further delay considering the possible delay on the government side as described at http://www.xielaw.com/immigration-articles/h1b-immigration-articles/urgent-issues-about-h1b-extensionrenewal.html. Please contact us if you have any questions or when you are ready to get your H-1B application prepared. |
